Hindustani Classical Vocal Competition
Passion is a Competition for Hindustani Classical Music organised by Suranjan. After an overwhelming response from across the globe over the years, Passion is here again, in 2025, in a Hybrid mode.
This year, while the first round will be conducted online, the grand finale will be held in Thane, as an in-person concert.
This sixth edition of Passion is bigger than ever, and focuses on Vocal category across three age groups.
We hope to encourage all the students of classical music to participate and help them get valuable exposure.
The competition is open to all participants across the globe.

With the vision of spreading the importance and permanent relevance of Hindustani Classical Music to the future of India, Suranjan proudly presents the sixth edition of Passion, a competition for students of Hindustani Classical Music. With a modest begining of an inter-school competition in Thane in 2018, Passion took a global form during pandemic as Suranjan conducted it on a Digital platform. After Covic, Passion has been conducted in a hybrid mode, presenting an unprecedented opportunity to both the participants as well as the organisers.
Like previous years, Passion 2025 is open to all participants across the globe.
We invite students from all over the world to participate in this competition and benefit from the immense exposure and learning it has to offer.
Participants from India will travel to Thane for the final round. They will perform live on the stage in front of the judges.
Participants from outside of India will perform live in front of the judges in the final round via online streaming. Suranjan will arrange projector/screen/internet infrastructure during the final round.
Competition Results
We are thrilled to announce the results of Passion 2025. Congratulations to all the prize winners. Overall, the final performances across all age groups were very encouraging. Everyone who performed demonstrated their dedication and Taleem. Suranjan thanks all the performers, their gurus and parents for nurturing this unique art.Congratulations to those who have been shortlisted.

The final round will take place at Sahayog Mandir Hall, Thane (W) on 15th June 2025. Shortlisted participants from India will travel to Thane for in person performance. Overseas participants will perform live in front of judges from their homes. Suranjan will make arrangements for a live stream on the LED screen on stage.
Judges
Passion 2025 has been blessed with a distinguished panel of judges for the Final Round. Both judges are stalwarts in their own right. It is a great opportunity for the participants to perform in front of the eminent judges during the Final Round and learn from their guidance.


Performance Category - Classical Vocal
This year, Passion 2025 will focus only on the Classical Vocal category. Instrumental and other Percussion instrumentalists such as Pakhwaj, Mrudungam, etc., are not included this year.

Vocal
Only Hindustani Classical Vocal Khayal and Dhrupad are included.
Semi-classical, Thumri, Tappa, Ghazal, Light Music, Carnatic Classical Music are not included.

The competition will take place in two rounds, as explained. While the first round will be on the Digital Platform, the Final Round will be an in-person concert.
First Round - Google Drive
The last date for registration is 23rd May, 2025.
Once the registration form has been filled out, Suranjan will immediately send the Google Drive Link to the participants.
The participants are expected to record a video of their performance and upload it on this link.
The last date for submission of video entry is
28th May, 2025 12 Midnight IST.
Participants from outside of India, please note the time. Video Upload closes 12 Mid night IST. Please plan accordingly.

Final Round - In Person Concert
The Grand Finale of Passion 2025 will be held as an in-person concert in Thane. The shortlisted participants will get to perform live in front of the eminent panel of judges and learn from their guidance.
The Grand Final for the competition is scheduled on
15th June, 2025, at Sahog Mandir, Thane.
